Fresh Lifelines for Youth
Fresh Lifelines for Youth (FLY) is an award-winning nonprofit dedicated to breaking the cycle of violence, crime and incarceration of teens in the Bay Area and beyond.
MY WORK
Interim development director, consultant, writer:
For FLY, I supported grant writing, fundraising planning, cultivation and stewardship management, and Salesforce implementation and training from 2011 until 2015. From May through November of 2012, I served as interim development director and helped to on board a new development director and full-time grant writer. As the interim development director, I helped the executive director Christa Gannon to develop a fundraising plan for support of the annual fund and organizational growth and geographic expansion. From 2013 2015, I continued to support grant writing during times of transition and when additional capacity was required by the development team.
IMPACT
My support of FLY helped them to grow their service area from Santa Clara County and San Mateo County to Alameda County in 2015. Contributing to this expansion was a grant application I prepared for the 50 Fund Game Changer grant program. FLY was one of only five Bay Area nonprofits to be selected from 150 applicants for the $500,000 grant award. This seed funding enabled FLY to launch into a third Bay Area county.
